The danger and romance of the salmon season in Alaska comes to the Paramount backlot in this adequate adventure yarn. Fonda and Raft are old friends who eventually end up on different sides of the law. While Fonda tries to pull an honest living out of the sea by putting out traps and nets for the spawning fish, Raft joins Tamiroff's nefarious Russian gang in pillaging the nets of others. Meanwhile, Fonda is romancing Platt, the daughter of drunken newspaper editor Barrymore.
