The Spanish Gardener

Set against the picturesque background of Costa Brava, Spain, THE SPANISH GARDENER stars the anglo Bogarde as the gentle title character. He is employed by Hordern, a failed diplomat who is tortured by his own inadequacies. The diplomat's son, Whiteley, is an impressionable boy who is smothered by his father's overbearing possessiveness. When Whiteley takes a liking to Bogarde, Hordern feels rejected and objects. Hordern engineers a scheme to get rid of Bogarde by having the family valet, Cusack, plant a stolen watch on him. Bogarde is arrested and carted off to prison on a train.
