Two hundred years in the future, a bank robbery is foiled and the desperate robber, Grange (Michael Pare), is banished to a penal mining colony on Proxima Centauri 3. Also on the planet are bounty hunter Walker (John Laughlin) and the Colonel (Richard Farnsworth), an old codger who was once the best cop in Los Angeles.
