Film is basically an excuse to perform a few fair tunes. Bruce is a famous writer of Southern ballads who actually hails from the North. When his partner promotes him as the subject for a biography, Bruce heads South to create a phony family background. Gwynne escorts him and tutors him
on his accent. During the trip, the two fall in love, but their romance is temporarily interrupted when southern belle Morse, a colonel's daughter, takes a liking to Bruce. Songs include: "Shoo Shoo Baby" (Phil Moore; sung by Ellamae Morse), "I'm A-Headin' South," "Never Again," (sung by Morse)
