To help out his exact double, Formby (in a dual role) takes the place of a noted South American tenor. This way he can help the opera star fulfill contract obligations and also win the heart of the man's lovely press agent, Travers. Formby ends up being chased by some hitmen hired to kill the opera singer, but all works out for a typically happy conclusion. Formby's comic talents give the unlikely story a few fun moments, though the film is for the most part a hit-and-miss effort.
