All My Sons

1948, Movie, NR, 93 mins

Arthur Miller's powerful drama tells the story of a family being ripped apart by the discovery of the father's corrupt business ethics during WWII (purposefully shipping defective military parts that resulted in the death of 21 men). The windy treatment is beginning to show its age, but is somewhat compensated for by acting of a high order. Robinson provides one of his best performances, showing the human frailty of his character in all its naked fury and shame, a role matched only by Lancaster's tense, taut presence as an embittered war veteran. leave a comment
