A hot shot young tenor (Kiepura) comes to Venice for a production of "Aida." Bored between rehearsals, he amuses himself by drawing cartoons. Marson is a young girl who sneaks into the opera house and captures the roving eye of Kiepura. He asks her to tea but she declines. It seems she has been sent by her pianist fiance to try to obtain a position for him in the opera's orchestra.
