Plenty of laughs, songs, and dancing to show off Grable's best assets, her legs. The story has a Hawaiian cattle owner fighting with an Irish farmer for a strip of beach the rich man needs. While the two heads of the households battle, Grable and the land baron's son, Mature, get romantic. Both fathers vehemently object but finally realize they can't stop true love, so they bury the hatchet themselves. The men in the audience get to see plenty of Grable while the woman get a chance to ogle Mature. Songs include: "Blue Shadows and White Gardenias," "O'Brien Has Gone Hawaiian" (Mack Gordon, Harry Owens), "Sing Me a Song of the Islands" (Gordon, Harry Warren), "Down on Ami Ami Oni Oni Isle," "Maluna Malolo Mawaena," "What's Buzzin' Cousin" (Gordon, Owens), "Hawaiian War Chant" (Ralph Freed, Johnny Noble, Prince Leleiohaku of Hawaii), "Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai" (R. Alex Anderson, Al Stillman), and "Home on the Range" (standard). leave a comment
