Song Of My Heart

As spurious a depiction of the life of Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky as Ken Russell's subsequent effort THE MUSIC LOVERS, this Benjamin Glazer-directed biopic has little to do with the composer's real life. Told in flashback by a Russian lieutenant whose father was Tchaikovsky's valet (Mikhail Rasumny, giving a splendid performance as both father and son), SONG OF MY HEART ignores the composer's homosexuality, glosses over his brief marriage, and concentrates instead on a fabricated romance between Tchaikovsky and his patron, Princess Amalya (Audrey Long).
