This black comedy stars York as a man who will do anything to get ahead. He sees the estate of countess Lansbury as ripe for the taking. Hired as a footman, he gradually works his way closer to the countess, using every trick in the book, including murder and sex. Everything goes according to his evil plans until he gets Lansbury to agree to marry him. Then the axe falls when Carr, as the countess' fat, ugly daughter, reveals that she's been keeping tabs on York and has catalogued every one of his ambitious acts. She threatens to tell unless York marries her, thus blocking the final move in his so-far successful attempt to take over Lansbury's estate. Songs include "Weil du so schon tanzen kannst" (Hans Otter), "Das Kleine Rendezvous" (Karl Shachinger, Max Schachinger), "Geh alte Schau mi net so teppart an" (Friedl Szalat, Bert Ull, Ernst Geiger). leave a comment
