Contrary to initial reviews, Fawcett's performance didn't kill this picture, the poorly conceived script and equally lifeless direction did. Bridges again shows his versatility as an actor, playing a Macy's clerk with aspirations of writing children's books. He's carrying on an affair with
Fawcett, a store customer. When they discover her husband has been murdered, as well as a couple of neighbors and a fake detective, they become amateur sleuths. Their search for the real killer is filled with outrageous comic antics that culminate in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
