A dramatic expose of the lives of a group of gays who meet on Christmas Eve in a New York bar (a disguised version of Gotham's Zodiac Bar). A wide array of curiosities (including the actually pretty female impersonator Candy Darling, an Andy Warhol "superstar") fill the bar, but on the
whole the picture is just as annoying as most "understanding the basis of a relationship" films. Even for the audience this is geared to, it's not much of a film. There's nothing here that Fassbinder hasn't done a hundred times better. Highly derivative of the 1970 homosexual hit THE BOYS IN THE
BAND, but more morose and less witty.
