Boxer Bud Mason (Noah Beery, Jr.) dumps his manager (William Gargan) and devoted girl friend Judy (Nan Grey) when he becomes the champ, convinced he can do better by himself. He marries glamorous-but-worthless chorus girl Rose (Dorothea Kent) and sets up a match with an up-and-comer hungry
for his title. On the night of the big fight, however, he learns of Rose's infidelity, which, compounded by sloppy training, bodes ill for continued mastery in the ring. Judy returns to console the big lug. The film, a remake of THE IRON MAN (1931), was remade again with that title in 1951.
