Smorgasbord

Jerry Lewis grinds out slapstick routines as Warren Nefron, a suicidal goofball who visits his psychiatrist. Nefron relates his history of failed attempts at keeping a job, which has driven him to the brink of suicide. The film is structured largely in flashbacks, but it's all very stagy and disjointed with the gags that become tedious. The film was a popular success in France, where Lewis' work is loved--one of the great mysteries in cinema.
