Oh, to be young, beautiful and for sale. Andres (Leonardo Brezicki) is a bisexual hustler who cruises the 24-hour ATMs and public parks of Buenos Aires on his rollerblades. Reni (Cecilia Bengolea) is a kooky young chanteuse whose singing has gotten so weird that her band mates want to replace her. Andres and Reni meet one night at an ATM, where Andres has just finished turning a trick. When he playfully swipes Reni's card, she tells him to keep it, and instead of changing her PIN number, she follows him. When they meet a second time, he gives her his beeper, and she begins sending him strange messages he can no longer receive. They take in a weird cabaret show, then sleep together. Afterwards, he gives her a bath. She tells him she's tired of the city's rampant consumerism, and how it makes her buy things she's not even sure she really wants. He loves being a commodity: "If you don't have a price... you're worth nothing." She decides she wants to give prostitution a try, and the two trick together. She doesn't take to it well. Andres and Reni pout, pose and ponder the mystery of it all while hurting each other with their love. Shot entirely at night under the neon lights of Buenos Aires, the film is a gorgeous nocturne of surprisingly little substance, a sleek advert for youthful anomie that never quite equals the sum of its pretensions. leave a comment --Ken Fox
