A well-meaning but but overly naive depiction of the unfair treatment of modern-day Indians. Ford plays the rancher whose pal, George, has hidden a young Indian, Ramirez, accused of murdering a storekeeper. With the sadistic sheriff, Wynn, trailing the fugitive, George decides to turn Ramirez in to the police and use the reward to obtain the services of a lawyer. George is placed in jail as well, however, forcing Ford into a deeper involvement in the case. He frees his buddy and takes over at the trial as interpreter--replacing Oates, a double-crossing Indian willing to stick a knife in his people's back if the price is right.
