Smashing Time

Tushingham and Redgrave play two women from England's North Country who go to London's mod Carnaby Street in search of excitement and success. The girls stick together throughout their misadventures, which include washing dishes to pay for food and working as cocktail hostesses. Redgrave manages a to get her picture taken by famous photographer York (a la BLOW UP), as an example of the way not to dress. She later becomes a successful recording star, but her fame dies quickly.
