This was to be the first of a series in which Farrell played Torchy Blane, the determined newspaper reporter who gets involved in numerous crime adventures. In this case, she is mainly around to give detective MacLane a hard time. He is busy trying to crack the murder of Crehan. Farrell's snooping helps to prove that an ex-gangster who poses as a changed man really isn't as honest as the cops take him to be. Performances could do little to make the sluggish story and burdensome lines presentable. leave a comment
