Bottoms plays a recently released convict who makes his way back home to his girl friend, George, and their illegitimate son. Tensions flare when he finds the woman involved with Hopkins, the closed-minded sheriff who busted Bottoms in the first place. This sets the stage for Bottoms'
plot of vengeance against his enemy and the finale's slam-bam car chase. Though the strife-filled relationships are well conveyed, the action turns toward a formula-type vengeance theme. Bottoms' character is little more than a moody, picked-upon youth, and George has little more to do than look
cute; the rugged portrayal of a cop by Hopkins offers the only real acting.
