A little uneven, but Tamara Jenkins' debut feature is filled with flashes of insight into the pitfalls awaiting adolescent girls, and boasts a phenomenal performance from Natasha Lyonne. Fifteen-year-old Viv Abramowitz (Lyonne) and her all-male family — dad (Alan Arkin), college-bound brother (David Krumholtz) and little brother (Eli Marienthal) — live a nomadic existence defined by cramped hotel rooms, tacky, too-small apartments and their station wagon.
