Two attorneys, John Webb (O'Brien) and Russell Sampson (Crawford), decide to take advantage of some under-the-table political dealing in the highway department to gain some business. Alma Brehmer (Dodd), a pretty divorcee involved in the scandal, is found dead with a knife in her back,
