A robbery of an armored car is botched with a little girl getting killed in the process. Stone (Peter Coyote), knowing that only trouble will arise if he remains in America, flees to England. There he takes up residence with Terry (Mel Smith), an old friend, and his live-in girl friend, Madge (Billie Whitelaw).
