A 100-story skyscraper is the setting for a number of personal dramatics that occur within its structure and are all forcibly intertwined. William plays the building's owner, a man as ruthless in his personal affairs as he is with his business deals. He gets his just reward from a
discarded lover. But his finale does not match the ending, which features a fallen woman jumping to her death from the top of the building in a silly metaphoric climax. Foster and Ratoff both went on to direct films.
