At the 1936 Winter Olympics, a Russian, a Finn, and an American win the gold, silver, and bronze medals in a skiing competition. The skiers are depicted as friends, and, at the medal ceremony, officials proudly proclaim that war is a thing of the past. The story then moves ahead to the
Russo-Finnish War in which troops on skis, including the 1936 Finnish team, must defend the mountainous border from the enemy. While the heroics and footage are stock, the film does boast photography by gifted cinematographer Milton Krasner.
