Fissoun and Rizos are two sponge divers living in a small town on the Greek isle of Lesbos. Fissoun owns his own ships, but they are impounded by Diamantidou, the town's richest woman, until he can pay his debts. Fotiou, one of Diamantidou's three daughters, is being forced into a strange lesbian-incestual relationship with her two sisters. She does not care for Rizos but prefers him to her present company. As diving season begins, Fissoun and Rizos try to negotiate a fair price for boats from Diamantidou. Fotiou meets Fissoun and becomes interested. She seduces him and then gives him the money to recover his boats from her mother. Loyalty to his friend is uppermost, though, and Fissoun breaks off the relationship. Of course, Diamantidou strongly disapproves of her daughter's involvement with any men, but Fotiou becomes engaged to Rizos anyway. Her passion for Fissoun, however, is irresistible, and she runs off with him during her engagement party. (In Greek; English Subtitles.) leave a comment
