Unbelievably hokey film finds Haley as an egotistical war correspondent heading back to New York after WW II's end in Europe. He's in charge of a group of teenagers who had been trapped for four years in Europe while entertaining during the war. Apparently the kids can't get enough of show business life, as they constantly put on production numbers that make one wonder what tortures they must have endured. Haley does little more than go through the motions, though he shows an occasional glimmer of real talent. The music isn't the worst around, but it's nothing special. McGuire is the only standout in the teen cast. Songs include: "I'll Buy That Dream" (sung by Anne Jeffreys), "Heaven Is a Place Called Home," "Seven O'Clock in the Morning (Waking up Boogie)," "Somebody Stole My Poor Little Heart" (Herb Magidson, Allie Wrubel), and "The Lord's Prayer" (arranged by Albert Hay Malotte). leave a comment
