After looking for the perfect television couple, a group of producers end their search with Finch and Kendall. They are the perfect married pair and ideal for a new domestic series broadcast from their home. The problem is Finch and Kendall can't stand each other. On camera it's all sweetness and light, but once the shooting stops it's one of the nastiest bouts since Dempsey met Tunney. Eventually the off-camera relationship catches up with them and with the help of some liquored refreshments everything comes to a head before the cameras on a Christmas special. Cleverly played by Finch and Kendall, SIMON AND LAURA takes a popular British play and turns it into an entertaining movie farce. The chemistry between the two stars is good, and the premise is made believable by them. Some nice parodies of the show business life are also mixed in under competent direction. leave a comment
