Based on the real-life story of Karen Silkwood, this blistering exposé of big business from director Mike Nichols features a brilliant performance by Meryl Streep and an attention-getting turn by Cher. Streep is Silkwood, a tough, hard-drinking woman who, in the course of her dull, dangerous job at a nuclear plant, is repeatedly contaminated.
