1981, Movie, PG, 94 mins

starstarstarstar
Trapper Skerritt and his plucky wife, Burstyn, battle nature in the Canadian wilderness in 1919. After Skerritt drowns, Burstyn brings up their children alone until she remarries. Based on a true story, SILENCE OF THE NORTH is dragged down by a cliched presentation of the hardships endured by its principals, and Burstyn's narration is equally hackneyed. The photography of the Canadian woodlands is marvelous, however. leave a comment
