In a seemingly quiet English home, Peters is step-mother to the three grown children of her husband Knox. Confined to a wheelchair, Peters slowly becomes a dominating force over the entire family. She breaks up a romance for one daughter and nearly drives the son's fiancee to suicide. Descending further into madness, Peters finally ends it all by wheeling her chair off a cliff to certain death.
