It is 1848 and the setting is the California territory. Jason owns a large parcel of land that is part of a Spanish land grant. Americans from the East, led by Brodie, try to take over. They bring in a gunslinger from Texas, Keith, to scare Jason, and Keith ends up falling in love with Jason's sister, Gam. But a gun battle claims Keith's life and shatters Gam's dreams.
