This wacky parody, which takes its cue from the scattershot AIRPLANE! (1980), skewers contemporary horror movies more adroitly than the vulgar blockbuster SCARY MOVIE (2000), and gets in some good digs at both teensploitation films and slasher movies. The halls of Bulimia High School resound with the screams of nubile victims as a masked killer stalks the sex-obsessed student body. All eyes turn to transfer student Dawson (Harley Cross), who reportedly massacred his entire family in his old hometown. Before long, however, Dawson is targeted by the real killer, along with his new friends Martina (Majandra Delfino), Slab (Simon Rex), Barbara (Julie Benz) and Boner (Danny Strong). Reporter Hagatha Utslay (Tiffani Amber Thiessen), who's covering the killing spree for a cable network, forms an alliance with dorky mall security guard Doughy (Tom Arnold); they vow retribution against the maniac. Flashbacks reveal that each of Dawson's friends is hiding a terrible secret pertaining to the previous summer; Tina, for example, neglected to administer her grandmother's laxative. And even worse than their individual indiscretions is the fact that the four teens collectively covering up their hit-and-run killing of a deer, though the creature might actually have been Dawson in a deer costume! As the body count mounts, Dawson's clique unwinds at a beer blast. The killer crashes the party, but is frustrated by accidental deaths of several potential victims. Will Doughy and Hagatha stop flirting long enough to rescue Dawson and his surviving pals? In a wild free-for-all, the costumed maniac is unmasked. Jubilantly trashing the SCREAM trilogy and the I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER films, this riotous comedy satirizes a thriving sub-genre while poking fun at adolescent mores. This spoof giddily makes mincemeat out of logic and zips past its misfires at breakneck speed. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
