Quillan's a show biz performer who meets Basquette when she tries to sell him a prop duck in a theatrical supply store. Instead, he sells her half his act, and the two become a dance team. Of course they become romantically involved as well. The pair are given their big chance at a Broadway revue, but after arguing over some trivial point, Basquette takes a walk. Quillan has to hire a new partner who is terrible. The show flops and the new girl leaves. Quillan's left alone, until Basquette hears of his defeat, breaks her new Broadway contract, and comes back fully costumed and ready for a big finale. This early talkie has only about ten minutes of dialog, which comes at the film's end. The story is standard tripe and not well handled. It plays like a fairly connected set of interlocking cliches about show business without much effect. Quillan's comic performance is good, though, probably better than the film deserved. leave a comment
