Short Eyes

Davison, the rat man of WILLARD, plays a child molester sent to prison. The prison slang for his crime is "short eyes," viewed by the other convicts as the lowliest offense one can commit. His fellow inmates, a rag-tag collection of rapists, murderers, junkies, and pimps, make his life a living hell. This gritty, well-acted drama was filmed on location in the abandoned New York City Men's House of Detention, in pseudodocumentary style. SHORT EYES has a dark, claustrophobic feeling that heightens the drama. Former convicts and ex-junkies are cast, which adds to the realism.
