McCrea is an American army colonel stationed in England who gets involved with helping Culver and Lom of the British Secret Service. A plot is discovered to smuggle in a foreign agent, and McCrea and Lom pose as his allies when they go to meet him. Other agents try to pin a murder charge on McCrea, and the action culminates in a chase through a wax museum.
