"Shiralee" is an Australian Aborigine word which means a burden. Finch plays an Australian laborer who drifts around the country looking for work. After a few years he returns to his wife, Sellars, only to find her living with another man. He takes Wilson, their five-year-old daughter,
away from this atmosphere and she becomes Finch's shiralee. He is unable to relate to the girl and to give her the love and affection she needs, but still the child prefers to be with her father. The mother instigates court action against her husband, Finch gets beaten up by some thugs, and Wilson
is almost killed by a truck, but THE SHIRALEE ends on a happy note for father and daugh...
