Fresh from the success of FLIRTATION WALK, the writing-directing team of Daves and Borzage were given the same cast, with a story that differed little from its predecessor. The result was a sure-fire success at the box office. Powell plays the son of Admiral Stone. To please his father, Powell enters the Navy Academy, but all along would rather pursue a career as a singer. Spending little time with his fellow classmates, he's not very popular at the Academy. His only friend is dance instructor Keeler, whom he plans to marry. But she has reservations because of her long family tradition in the Navy. She wants a real sailor. When Powell saves the life of a classmate during a fire aboard a training ship, he has a change of heart toward the Navy, much to everyone's pleasure. Songs include: "Don't Give Up the Ship," "I'd Rather Listen to Your Eyes," "All Aboard the Navy," "I'd Love to Take Orders from You," and "Do I Love My Teacher" (Al Dubin, Harry Warren). leave a comment
