First, let's clear up the title: Shiloh is a dog. And this is a well-intentioned but lackluster boy and his dog picture, adapted from a popular children's book. Little man Marty (Blake Heron) comes across an adorable pup that's been brutally injured by his disagreeable owner (Scott Wilson), a hunter and a poacher to boot. The picture boasts an accomplished cast, including Michael Moriarty as a postman and Rod Steiger as a doctor and general store owner, but it's entirely without momentum or suspense.
