Lady cop Birell poses as a jewel thief in order to infiltrate Romero's gang. The comic relief of Brennan and Hymer (the latter as a part of the gang) is the strongest element of this otherwise uninteresting film. Vienna-born blonde beauty Birell had been hailed as "another Garbo," but
her career quickly declined to such low-budget thrillers as this one. Her proclivity for prison films was legendary; she appeared in SEVEN MILES FROM ALCATRAZ (1942), WOMEN IN BONDAGE (1943), and GIRLS OF THE BIG HOUSE (1945). Like Birell, lovely child actress O'Driscoll, seen here in a bit part,
later starred in B pictures.
