Girl's Power Wows Mercedes Ruehl

Mercedes Ruehl, A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story

If Boys Don't Cry, what is it that wannabe girls aren't supposed to do? In Lifetime's A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story (premiering tonight at 9 pm/ET), Academy Award winner Mercedes Ruehl plays Sylvia, a single mother whose son, Eddie (J.D. Pardo), knows he is supposed to be a girl, and takes steps toward fulfilling that potential. TVGuide.co read more

Set your FauxVo! All My Children...

Set your FauxVo! All My Children diva Eva La Rue (ex-Maria) will host TV Guide Channel's TV Hunks & Babes special this Sunday at 8 pm/ET.

"The No. 1 spots went to Patrick Dempsey from Grey's Anatomy and Evangeline Lilly from Lost," La Rue reveals to TVGuide.com. "And then there's so many daytime soap hunks and babes on this special who have moved on to nighttime. Josh Duhamel, Vanessa Marcil, Shemar Moore, Julian McMahon...."

What about Eva herself? She recently left AMC and landed a regular gig on CSI: Miami as sexpot scientist Natalia Boa Vista. Shouldn't she be listed as one of TV's hottest babes? "I know! Who do you have to sleep with to be on this show, anyhow?" La Rue laughs. "At least I got to host it, so I feel included somewhat, and that's good."

Lisa Exits Idol Because of You

Lisa Tucker, American Idol

Man, it was like seeing plucky li'l Lisa Simpson get ejected from a saxophone recital. On last week's American Idol, 16-year-old Lisa Tucker got the boot, all because of you, the voting public... and perhaps because of her song choice, Idol champ Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You." "I was prepared for anything," Lisa told TVGuide.com the day after her send-off, "so I just took it in stride. I knew that I was going to be OK whether or not I was going home." Throughout the competition, Lisa was often hit with the judging triad's critique that her song choices were "too old" for her teen self. Hearing that again and again, she admits, "was tough, but everyone is entitled to their opinions. They were just telling me what they think, and I res read more

American Idol At the top of the...

Noah Wyle, ER

American IdolAt the top of the show, Ryan Seacrest announced that he had good news and bad news. Four more people would leave, but Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood was on hand to perform. And I was left wondering where the good news was. The "original farm girl" took the stage to tepid applause, but Melissa McGhee was up on the balcony singing right along and studying every stage move... all one of them. I just hope the next Idol winner can move more than one arm at a time. Naturally, before elimination time we had to suffer through another awful group song. I'll give a Reader's Digest version of my notes: bad attempt at harmony, bad camera angle, bad outfits, extremely bad dancing. Can't wa read more

Eva Longoria Sets the Record Straight

Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria

When Eva Longoria arrived at ABC's winter press-tour party at the Wind Tunnel in Pasadena, Calif., TVGuide.com cozied up to the Desperate Housewives star, who was more than happy to speak on a variety of topics, including the casting of her TV mom, her romance with San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker and, yes, that much-publicized Vanity Fair cover shoot. First up: "I'm thrilled," the brunette beauty enthuses of Chasing Papi's Maria Conchita Alonso being hired as her Housewives mami, first appearing in the Feb. 19 episode. "We're going to learn [through Lucia] why Gaby is the way that she is." While the popular prime- read more

My boyfriend and I were ...

John Larroquette, Harry Anderson and Markie Post, Night Court

Question: My boyfriend and I were watching a Night Court rerun the other night and ended up having an argument about Harry Anderson. I think he was a magician before he had that show, but my boyfriend said that he made a living as a con man. Who's right? And don't make fun of us. We fight about everything.

Answer: Me, make fun of my loyal readers? Perish the thought, dear woman, for it is you whose page hits help generate my paycheck, thus keeping me fat and happy (but mostly fat).

The answer to your question is a little of both, but I must say the magician part is easier to prove due to Anderson's appearances on Saturday Night Live and Cheers, where he played a hustler named, appropriately enough, Harry. He's on record saying he used to run shell games in various cities before going straight, but Anderson was notorious for making up en read more

Grey's Anatomy I think my mother,...

Grey's Anatomy I think my mother, Joan, summed it up best: "I like these catch-up episodes. Just like last week's Desperate Housewives recap, it helped me to get caught up since I missed a few here and there." Thanks, Joan. And it especially helps when you love the show. This hour did a great job capturing just about all the best scenes, plus it solidified exactly why we love the show so much: It has great characters whom we care about. But what goes into making great characters is a combination of fantastic writing and top-notch acting. Thank you, Writers Guild, for nominating Grey's for Outstanding Achievement in Writing for a Dramatic Series and thank you, Screen Actors Guild, for nominating Patrick Dempsey for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Seri read more

Grey's Anatomy Who knew that Meredith...

Grey's AnatomyWho knew that Meredith would be the one to help Derek move on and go back to being intimate with Addison? How very adult of "miserable diseased dirty ex-mistress" Meredith to be so supportive. Luckily it helped her own sanity and confidence, since she met that new guy at the end. Loved that she asked if he was a doctor. Other highlights of this thankfully non-"very special" Thanksgiving episode:- So great to see Burke being social and cordial ("call me Preston"), as well as being such a good cook.- Brian Kerwin was extremely effective as the guy who woke up after being a vegetable for 16 years. How horrible for him to find out his wife got remarried and is pregnant, but I liked that he wanted to hear this news from Meredith.- read more

I'LL BE BAAACK

The Terminator

Or, at least, she will. Variety reports that C2 Pictures, which gave us Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, has inked a deal with Fox to develop The Sarah Connor Chronicles, a spin-off series set between the second and third Terminator films and focusing on apocalypse-phobe Sarah (played by a mad-ripped Linda Hamilton on the big screen) and her savior scion, John. War of the Worlds scribe Josh Friedman will pen the pilot and exec-produce the project. C2 Pictures also confirms that it is in "the final phases of development" of a fourth Terminator feature that could be the first entry of a new trilogy. It probably all depends on the outcome of a certain 2006 gubernatorial election. read more

Aiiight, so it was Lucas who saved...

Invasion

Aiiight, so it was Lucas who saved Dan. You guys were right. Damn that meddling kid! God, we'd all be so much better off without that tool. Then again, that would leave us in serious need of a villain, and that witchypoo-looking high-school hag teasing my Haley totally won't cut it. Nor will Ellie, now that we know that Peyton's prodigal mama was only scoring weed to deal with her cancer symptoms. Didn't really see that one coming. What I did see was Hilarie Burton doing some of her best work ever. Oooh, the heartache. And how odd to have her there to stop Dan from throttling Lucas. Being Nathan's ex, she's probably seen the Bad Dad of the Century acting up, but murderous? I was half expecting her to announce that she was the one who tried to torch his sorry butt. Huh. Maybe it was Keith. Or Karen. Or Jules. Or Deb. Or Whitey. Or Nathan. Or Andy. Wow, Dan doesn't really have any friends, does he? Hell, even Brooke probably has a motive. Oh well, whoever it was, let read more
