She Played With Fire

Convoluted and slow drama starring Hawkins as an insurance investigator who discovers that Price is selling valuable paintings to rich Americans and substituting forgeries that are mysteriously destroyed in fires, thus collecting twice for the same paintings. Hawkins reserves judgment, however, because Price happens to be married to his old flame Dahl, and he fears she may be implicated in the scheme. So Hawkins snoops around on his own time, and Price solves his dilemma by accidentally killing himself in one of his own fires.
