Fair drama with Romero running a casino in London. He is framed for the killing of an old flame, Silva, who was found stabbed in his apartment. He unwittingly asks the crippled Maddern for help in finding the real murderer, not knowing that his buddy is the actual killer. The tension builds nicely with Underdown investigating the case step by step, finally clearing Romero in the climactic scene when Maddern confesses all. Nice suspense throughout, with Romero trying to outwit the police while Maddern tries to set a trap for Romero to get himself off the hook. leave a comment
