Kind-hearted Canadian soldier Cooper lets himself be adopted by a flighty spinster who is unhappy that she has never produced an offspring to help the boys who are fighting in WW I. When he is sent behind enemy lines and never returns, she receives his medals and, in a great tear-jerking close, puts them carefully away and proudly resumes her former life. Cooper appropriately thought the film mushy. leave a comment
