The Sell Out

An espionage drama starring Widmark as a CIA agent, retired and living in Jerusalem, who is dragged back into the business by his former protege Gabriel (Reed), who had defected to the Soviets, but now returns to his mentor begging for help. It seems that both the Americans and the Russians have taken out assassination contracts on Gabriel, and he is desperate to survive. This leads to lots of gunplay and car chases, much to the dismay of Israeli Major Benjamin (Levy) who is sick and tired of watching the Americans and Soviets play hardball in his country. Standard espionage fare with only a climactic car chase to recommend it.
