Two For The Seesaw

Mitchum plays a Nebraska attorney whose marriage is on the rocks and who loses his job. He heads for a new life in Manhattan where he meets old pal Firestone, who invites him to a Greenwich Village party. There he meets MacLaine, a dancer from the Bronx. They have a sexual, though not necessarily loving, affair, but Mitchum's mind is still in Nebraska. Mitchum lands a job with a New York law firm, and he and MacLaine try to make a go of their relationship. Shot in New York, this is a lethargic film that worked much better as a play because the large screen magnifies the talkiness and lack of emotional fireworks.
