Maudlin tear-jerker starring Boles as a would-be writer who leaves his wife, Wilson, and his five children to pursue his career under the guidance of Tobin, who works for a publishing company. In the decade that follows, Boles becomes a big success, but the literary critics have singled him out for harsh criticism because he has fallen into writing trashy mystery novels to support Tobin's extravagant lifestyle. Wilson, who still loves Boles, seeks to help him stabilize his life by inviting him to see their now-grown children. The experience leaves Boles longing for a family again, and he begs Wilson to let the children live with him. Wilson agrees and brings his family to New York where Tobin, now threatened by Boles' love for his children, feels like an outcast. Soppy, trite, and rife with unrealistic character motivations, SEED's only current interest is the brief and early appearance of Bette Davis as Boles' grown daughter. leave a comment
