Ten Seconds To Hell

Chandler and Palance play it tough in this WW II drama as members of a German bomb squad. Each member of the squad puts a portion of his pay into a common pool; the last surviving member of the group will collect it all. The squad is decimated one by one until only Palance and Chandler are left. Finally, summoned to deactivate a blockbuster bomb, Chandler tries to rig it so that Palance is blown up--but the reverse happens. The pair falters somewhat in trying to put across German accents, but given the movie's can't-miss formula for suspense, the audience is paying more attention to the characters' possible doom. Unfortunately Aldrich's direction favors examination...
