A stark drama about friendship and romance that stars Borgnine and Mills as Australian sugar cane cutters. The two spend their annual five-month vacations by heading to Sydney and carrying on with their mistresses, Baxter and Lansbury. After 16 years, however, things change--Borgnine loses his job and cannot afford his annual habit of buying Baxter a doll souvenir, while Lansbury has married and sent another woman in her place.
