1958, Movie, NR, 87 mins

Often hilarious film about the scion (Guinness) of a family whose seafaring tradition dates back to the Stone Age. Guinness has one problem--he gets deathly ill when the waters are the slightest bit choppy. To solve his dilemma, he opens up a seafarer's hotel and amusement pier, basking in the family glory and making lots of money. In flashbacks, we see Guinness in the multiple roles of his ancestors: a Stone Age seaman who is berserk by any standard, an inept lieutenant to Admiral Drake, and a wacky naval officer during WW I. Here the great impersonator is in his element, but as the modern weakling, he is less inspiring, until turning about bravely when the local citizens, jealous of his newfound prosperity, attempt to destroy his pier. He rallies his sailing buddies and puts up a valiant slapstick battle, saving the old homestead. leave a comment
