The Sea Wolves

This attempt to capture the spirit of the classic wartime adventures is only moderately successful--"a geriatric GUNS OF NAVARONE," as film critic Vincent Canby described it. Based on an actual WW II incident, THE SEA WOLVES concerns a clandestine operation of 1943 involving the Calcutta Light Horse, a regiment of aging war volunteers who previously saw service in the Boer War of 1900. Their mission, under the command of colonel Peck, with a passable English accent, is to explode three German ships docked in the neutral Indian port of Marmagoa--then part of Goa, originally a Portugese settlement.
